Sparring and Patterns Competition – Results
North West Tae Kwon Do Mini-Competition Results
The competition went very well and most went away pleased. As it was our first competition for a long time a few lessons were learned. A big thank you to all those that officiated and helped out on the day. Some memorable moments include an impressive black belt pattern performed by James Carr to open the event and some impressive kids sparring. For the first time we also had a black belt pattern event which the audience appreciated. Well done to all.

Preston Students get LEP Coverage
Extracts from the LEP giving publicity for the Wuppalapati Family and Fulwood Class (March 2013)
Fighting is definitely acceptable behaviour in the Wuppalapati household. Two years after taking up taekwondo as a hobby Siddhartha Wuppalapati, his wife Priti and their two young daughters are all heading for the top grade. Consultant Siddhartha, 43, and his obstetrician wife decided to join in with their daughters Aarushi, 10, and her 12-year-old sister Arundhati, instead of sitting on the sidelines. Now, the couple have proved that age is no barrier as they join the girls in their bid for a black belt. Mr Wuppalapati, 43, a consultant neurologist at the Royal Preston Hospital, said: “We used to take the girls to Fulwood Leisure Centre for training and one night the instructor asked me if I would like to join in rather than sitting watching.”
When he got to his Gregson Way home he told his wife, who works in Lancaster, and she also signed up. He added: “When I told my wife she said fine and she came along as well. It’s a good way to keep physically fit as a family.” The quartet train twice a week and they are all preparing for the coveted top belt. They are all on track for black belts by the end of December. Aarushi, who is a member of North West Taekwondo along with the rest of her family, said: “I like it because it’s good exercise and fun learning the techniques. I like the self-defence moves. I learn something new every time.”
