Brian starting training in Scotland in 1972 after having gained his black belt at Judo. After training in several different countries he finally settled in North Wales where he founded Tae Kwon Do and left it as one of the strongest regions in the country. Brian then moved to Preston in 1984 where he started the Penwortham and Leyland classes under the UKTA led by Master Ki Ha Rhee. He then continued to expand the clubs in the North West under the new TAGB association under Master He Il Cho. Brian now runs the independent NWTKD.
