Hello,
Just a quick note to say hello and thank you to all at North west Tae kwon do. I began training with Mr. Williams back in the summer of 1988 at 8 years old and quickly caught the bug. I stopped training in 2002 due to work commitments by this point I was a 3rd Dan black belt and the ripe old age of 22. I was there at the begining of NWTKD and only now with a career and a young family, truly appreciate the hard work and dedication Brian and his instructors have. I am proud to tell people of my achievements in Tae kwon do and I believe the hard work put into me by Brian and Karen over the years have instilled me with a similar work ethic and desire to be successful.
Again thank you for being a massive part of my life for so long, and I hope to see you all soon when I bring the next generation of Schofields to the “wide awake club”! (He’s only 3 but is already side kicking his way around nursery).
Regards
Pete Schofield.
Pete
Nice to hear from you. I hope you and your family are all well.
Have a good Christmas.
Regards
Brian and NWTKD
Well done to all who gained their 1st dan black belt and to those who reached 2nd, 3rd and 4th dan grades last weekend. It was good to see the extremely high standard of techniques and patterns. The photgraphs look really good. It just proves that if you train hard it will pay off. Thanks to all those who came a long to help out and a thank you to Mr Williams who without, none of this would be possible. Keep on training – attaining black belt 1st Dan grade is just the start!

The NWTKD are doing a demonstration for ‘I love Lancashire event 17th June’ at owd nells. If anyone is interested in helping, no matter what grade, please contact Karen via NWTKD facebook or via this website.
Please try to support this event. The more the better.
Brian and NWTKD
Please would you put more pictures on to the website to show students from all clubs.
Hello Tom – Thanks for your comment. We will do a refresh of the photograph gallery as soon as we can. There are a lot of students and we see many photos; although getting quality photos is very difficult. If you, or any other students have good photos then please give them to the area co-ordinator: Karen Kehoe, Allan Wignall, Elliott Walker or me. Regards. Brian
Thoroughly been enjoying my training with NWTKD for just over 16 months now, reaching my blue belt so far but having to take time off due to having a left hip replacement. Looking forward to starting up again with my training ASAP but was wondering if there are any ancient weapon training that anyone could get involved in through the club?? An avenue I would be most interested in going down? Many thanks
Martin
Martin. We’re glad that you are enjoying the training with NWTKD. Tae Kwon Do does not teach the use of ancient weapons; it’s a matter of looking around for something that suits you. Now that you are at senior belt level there is much more to learn. So just be cautious of allowing time to do the things you need to do. Otherwise you can easily end up being a jack of trades and the master of none! Good luck with your training.
Thank you Brian, exciting times ahead that I know and I’ll always aim to keep level headed and use patience
Thank you again
Keep you eyes peeled for the competition on the 28th April at Saint Augustines in Preston. Lots of categories including a black belt one; see your instructors for more details.
Also the Mondays class at Ashton is now 7-8.30pm and includes competition sparring. The Thursday classes at West View is 7-8.30pm and also includes competition sparring same price as normal.
Get yourself down practise sparring and pattern work.
See you there

Full support from all Instructors please. Encourage all your black belts to at least have a go at patterns. For Black belt the lowest pattern you can do is Chung Mu – so get practising! Thanks
Thoroughly enjoyed the Mini Comp on 28th April. I thought it was really well organised and everyone was really good. The standard was high. Even though I didn’t win anything I still feel it gave me a good boost of confidence in preparation for Black Belt Grading in June.
Thanks!
Stuart
Thank you for the kind comments. I hope to see you other students do well at future competition. Regards. Brian
Great day on Sunday well organised and well attended. Looking forward to the next comp in October.
Well done NWTKD
The comp really gave me confidence and I thoroughly enjoyed it. In taking part it allowed me to see and explore more of my nature. even though I didn’t win I firmly believe it has given me the strength to take part again.
From the day I joined NWTKD I believe it has enriched my life , taught me more about myself than any thing I’ve every taken part in in life.
Thank you :* :*
